This is the very 1st year World Series of Poker has guaranteed a US$ 10 million prize for 1st place in US$ 10000 buy-in event.
As per tradition, the 1st opening flight of the event is the smallest. Previous year, Day – 1A of the Main Event attracted 943 poker players. Day – 1B attracted 1942 poker players. And Day – 1C had 3467 poker players.
Seth Palansky, Caesars Interactive Entertainment vice president of corporate, on Twitter promised that this year’s Day – 1C would be the largest 1C that had ever taken place. On Twitter, he said: “(It’s) tracking ahead of last year,”
Many former Main Event champs elected to defeat the crowd to the felt and play later on Saturday. On Saturday, Johnny Chan showed that he was a real threat to win Main Event. Johnny Chan, the 2 time Main Event champ ended 7th in chips with 106000. Chris Moneymaker finished the day with seventy thousand while Tom McEvoy ended with 28000.
